The Following Quality Castings, which are to be Used in Sub-zero Conditions

(1) EUS 350-22L
This type is produced from specially selected high purity raw materials, with undesirable elements kept to on extremely low level and the casting are subsequently given an extended annealing heat treatment. This results in a material possessing a completely terrific matrix with excellent notched impact properties at sub-zero temperatures, guaranteed down to -40°C.

Applications: Parts for refrigerators, compressors, pumps, valves, etc., which are to be used in sub-zero conditions. Components for vehicles, e.g. hydraulic valves for use In arctic environments. Naval ship components where a high level of ductility and resistance to impact is a mandatory requirement.

(2) EUS 400-18L
The matrix of this material is predominately ferritic, although compositional requirements are not quite so onerous and the impact transition temperature is slightly higher than Is the case with the Type EUS 350-22L. A high temperature heat treatment annealing cycle is also part of the production procedure. The characteristics of this type are good ductility and a guaranteed notch impact toughness at temperatures down to -20°C.

Applications: Rotor hubs and rotor housing of wind-turbines for wind turbines valves. brakes, couplings, brackets, pressure vessels, high-pressure hydraulic housings and refrigeration components generally for service at temperatures down to -20°C where the requirement for guaranteed impact is essential.
